On 17 February, the government, represented by SMEPA, signed an Agreement with the Douala-based company Red-Plast. The Agency’s conference room was the venue for the event, which was chaired by Director General Jean Marie Louis Badga. In partnership with Italian recycling giant ECHO POLISTIRO sa, Red plast Sarl’s main activity is the collection, sorting and recycling of plastic waste. Its fuels are used as a major energy supplier in the steel industry, power generation plants, methanol synthesis gas production, the cement industry, power stations and boilers, with a minimum calorific value of around 17,500 KJ/kg. Its promoter, Alain Rodrigue Ngonde Elong, aims to create 166 new jobs in addition to the 25 existing ones, for an investment of around FCFA 1,310,000,000.
This brings to 61 the number of agreements signed by the Director General of Apme since the delegation of this power with the publication of Law 2017/015 of 12 July 2017 amending and supplementing Law 2013/04 of 18 April 2013 to lay down incentives for private investment in the Republic of Cameroon.
