PMTIC

The SME Modernization Program by Information and Communication Technologies (PMTIC) is one of the programs launched by the SME Promotion Agency since the start of its activities to support the development of Cameroonian SMEs. It is therefore an initiative that has the challenge of digitizing Cameroonian SMEs and that is to respond to the exhortations of the Cameroonian Head of State asking the nation to mobilize to support the many initiatives of young people in the field of education. ‘Digital Economy.

Objective of the PMTIC:

The overall aim of the program is to improve the competitiveness of SMEs through the use of ICTs to facilitate access to information, training, markets, finance and innovation.

The pillars of the PMTIC

The modernization of Cameroonian SMEs is a process based on four pillars:

  1. Process modernization: financial and accounting information, supply chain, reporting, sector studies.
  2. Modernization of visibility: access to markets, marketing and sales, websites, customer relationship management.
  3. The modernization of tools: hardware supplies, cash registers connected to the Internet, dematerialization.
  4. The modernization of the social climate: well-being of managers, well-being of staff, management skills.

Beneficiary targets of the PMTIC

The program generally targets all Cameroonian SMEs established throughout the national territory, having a legal existence and complying with the meaning of Law No. 2010/001 of 13 April 2010 on the Promotion of SMEs.

By mastering the computer tool, Cameroonian SMEs registered in the Program could have a website, optimize their financial management, improve the management of their customers, sell their products and services online and conquer new markets.

Registration and terms of participation in the PMTIC

As a result of the Agency’s mass public information campaigns on the ICT Modernization of SMEs Program, its objectives and activities, interested SMEs (potential beneficiaries) must complete a registration or application through the website www.apme.cm. SMEs submitting nominations in line with the criteria are pre-selected and invited to an APME ICT training and capacity building session. During this session, SMEs are trained in the identification of their IT needs, in the use and choice of technical solutions corresponding to their technical and financial needs and capacities in terms of performance criteria, reliability, quality and cost. , compliance, after-sales service, etc.

PMTIC pilot phase

A pilot phase of the Program was launched Monday, February 15, 2016 by the Director General of APME, Mr. Jean Marie Louis BADGA, in partnership with Microsoft with whom APME signed a collaboration agreement on November 23, 2015 in Yaoundé. Currently, 102 Cameroonian SMEs in various sectors of activity (wood, tourism, agribusiness, textile manufacturing, construction, services, renewable energies, etc.), distributed in the cities of Yaoundé, Douala, Edéa, Sangmélima, Ebolowa, Bertoua , are being modernized and the APME grant phase is launched for SMEs that justify the payment of at least 30% of the cost of installed solutions.

The Program also aims to provide experts for capacity building of Cameroonian SMEs. The APME-MICROSOFT partnership will also promote access to the African network of Cameroonian SMEs, the marketing of the Modernization Program on a continental and global scale, etc.

Following the 102 SMEs in this pilot phase, APME expects to reach an additional 6,000 SMEs throughout the country over the next two years.
